RAIDiant: Simple File Storage with Built-In Redundancy

RAIDiant is a desktop app that brings files on your drives together into one redundant storage array. Choose how many member failures your array can tolerate, then manage your files through a simple interface.

What can RAIDiant do?

  • Choose your protection: Configure multiple parity members to tolerate simultaneous member failures.
  • Grow as you go: Member files grow as you upload, up to your chosen capacity.
  • Manage files easily: Upload files and folders, rename items, delete them, and copy them back to your computer.
  • Recover and rebuild: Repair recoverable damage and rebuild missing members, with support for resuming interrupted rebuilds.
  • Check integrity: Verify stored data using checksums and parity. Periodic checks are optional and disabled by default.
  • Connect through FTP: Access an open array from an FTP client on your computer or trusted local network.
  • Keep memory use bounded: Data is processed in chunks instead of loading entire member files into RAM.

How does it work?

Each array member is an ordinary file stored at a location you choose. RAIDiant distributes data and redundancy across those members using its own file format. You browse the array inside the app rather than mounting it as a system drive.

For independent protection, place members on separate physical drives. Multiple member files on the same drive can all disappear if that drive fails.

Built for your desktop

RAIDiant supports Windows, macOS, and Debian. It can be packaged as a Windows executable, a macOS app, or a Debian installer that adds it to your Applications menu.

RAIDiant is still under active development and is not yet production-qualified storage software. Keep a separate backup of important files—redundancy is not a replacement for backups.
